3 weeks to graduation I couldn’t decide whether I should go out and buy a suit or just search online and find some decent offers. During my quest for a good suit online I came across this new start up company called Indochino. As usual before doing business with any new company online I did a back ground check, where they are located, reviews, prices, domain check, all turned out to be legit.
I was sold just by the easy navigation of the web site, the story about how two college students got together and started up the company, how the measurements are sent to China and then cut by trained tailors under the supervision of a master tailor. I was even further sold by the reasonable prices, the $25 cash back you get in case you have to get your suit altered, and the no questions asked refund policy. No questions asked, just return your unworn suit in a certain number of days for a FULL refund.
I made the jump, plus hey, if I didn’t like it, there is always the no questions asked refund policy. Got my self measured using their online video on how to measure as a guide. Fed in my measurements into their well designed form. Ordered my suit.
Couple of weeks later, here it is. All I have to say is, Awesome, just awesome. Have received nothing but compliments, and questions on where I purchased it from? Most of my friends couldn’t believe it was an online purchase.
If you are looking for a nice decent suit, and want it tailored as per your measurements, Indochino is most certainly the way to go. Will be ordering another soon.
UPDATE x1: The CEO and co-founder of Indochino came across my blog about their company and sent me the following email:
“Hello Umair,
My name is Kyle Vucko, I am the Co-Founder and CEO of Indochino.
Thank you very much for your great blog post! I was just notified of it via google alerts last night, it really made my day!
It is actually pretty funny. When we were writing the business plan, we envisioned scripts of what a satisfied customer might say, and they were happily similar to your write up.
I would love any additional feedback you could send my way, good and bad, always trying to make things better for the client you know! Also, what is a domain search? And finally (sorry for the 21 Q’s) where did you find us first?
Anyway, hope you are having a great weekend, look forward to hearing from you soon,Kyle
PS> How is the Boston? It is one of my favorites suits personally!”

Yes.
That’s a good choice~
Nice measurement also~
When you ordered your suit from Indochino, did you measure yourself or did you have a tailor do the measurements? Was it easy?
I measured it myself. The videos are pretty easy to follow I thought. Good Luck.
Umair,
I am considering ordering a suit from Indochino and, like you, have been doing my background work. I have found some bad reviews, but most of them, like yours, are generally from astonished clients who are very happy. Here’s my problem: I know how I like clothes to fit (slim and fitted) and I am a bigger guy who works out alot so I don’t have the typical body shape – hence, the desire for a tailored suit that fits wide shoulder, narrow waist, and muscular thighs, etc. My question to you is this – does your suit fit like a ‘fitted’ suit i.e. does the suit jacket conform to your body’s natural shape? This is the one hangup that I have and I don’t want the suit to look silly because it’s for my wedding and I figure that a truly tailored suit should fit any body type and give me this fitted look.
Perhaps Mr Vucko can respond to my posting as well just to reassure me?????
Thanks for your question Chris. I wouldn’t say the suit that I got is fitted. I guess it depends more on how you measure yourself. I wanted the suite to be a regular fit and not too fitted.
In all honesty if I were in your place and if the suit was for my wedding I wouldn’t take a chance in purchasing online but would rather get a fitted suit to my preference. But that is in no way saying that Indochino cannot provide you that suit, its just that the risk factor and the disappointment factor at the end of the day is higher in purchasing online.
Hi Everyone,
Just an update. I ordered and received my Indochino suit and I am extremely satisfied. The suit arrived in about 11 days in a FedEx box (not a fancy delivery box like the website suggests) and is a perfect fit. I am considering some very minor alterations – expanding throughout the shoulder and upper arms area – but all in all the fit is flawless and as expected. I also ordered a shirt and it is easily the best-fitting shirt that I now own.
I will also say that a friend of mine has ordered and received an Indochino suit and is not as happy as I am. His jacket rips at the seams when he pulls on the vents. That being said the company has offered to remake the suit as promised in their ‘perfect fit guarantee’.
I think that Indochino has multiple tailor in Shanghai and it perhaps is hit or miss as to who actually makes the suit. In other words, his tailor and mine were different and I seem to have lucked out.
I am a very satisfied customer. The advice I would give people would be to follow the measuring instructions on the website very carefully. The tailors adjust the measurements on their end to ensure the fit of the suit. I nearly made the mistake of submitting measurements that added a bit of room and had I done so, the suit may have not fit like it did in the end. Very good quality material as well might I add.
hi there,
i am sorry to say i have not had this great experience with indochino that everyone else seems to be getting. i ordered a suit and was very careful with the measurements profile (i am currently training with a master tailor so i was very confident about the measurement process), and i am sorry to say the end result was beyond disappointing. it was very baggy, the lapels did not lay flat, the torso felt like it had been fused rather than stiffened with the hand basted canvas that was advertised (although i did not open it up to check, as i sent it in for a refund instead), and the armholes were monsterous, to the point that i could fit two of my arms through one. these suits are not european cut, i.e. they do not have the slim fit that is so constantly advertised on the website. instead they look and feel exactly like off-the-rack suits that have been shortened to one’s length requirements, which is a real shame, as the website it self seemed to promise so much more. i hope this was an isolated incident and that others are experiencing much better service and workmanship, but i will never order from these people again. i know a lot of people may ask “if you are training with a tailor why order a custom suit online?,” and i just want to address that now by saying i have absolutely no time to make clothing for myself, and still have things to learn before i do so.
i also wonder just how legitimate indochino is, as i sent my suit back for a refund, and when i called the phone number they provide to contact them, i was told by the man i reached (a residencial number in vancouver), that a lot of people call and ask for indochino, and he is annoyed because they all reach him instead. also, every email i send out gets answered by the auto-response system on the website claiming that it is chinese new year and they cannot get back to me right away. chinese new year was over in february. are these guys for real? the cost of shipping was half the cost of the suit, and i am waiting to hear back from the company as to whether they will reimburse me on this, since i do not want to have payed for something that they very blatently screwed up, and if they offer money for alterations (one part of the site says $75, another says $25…lets keep the story straight), then why not offer at least the same amount for the ridiculously expensive return international shipping.
just know that when you order from these guys, it may work out (as others seems to have experienced) and it may fail terribly as i have seen, but if you plan on contacting them i’d start right away, because you never know when these guys will reply
